This striking image was used as the cover illustration for The Other America: Art and the Labour Movement in the United States, edited by Philip S. Foner and Reinhard Schultz, published in 1985.

Entitled ‘Icarus’, it was a hand-coloured montage by Jürgen Holtfreter, based on a photograph by Lewis W. Hine (1874-1940).
