Eyuphuro

Eyuphuro was Mozambique’s best known popular music group. They formed in 1980 at the Ilha de Mozambique in Nampula Province in the north. Their group’s leaders and songwriters Zena Bakar and Gimo Remane blended delicate, lilting Portuguese-influenced guitar with Arabic rhythms and African traditions.
